Svitlana Veljanovski
Svitlana Veljanovski is a resident of California’s 30th District, living in Hollywood, CA. She serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Angels of Ukraine and holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in trauma.
At 17, Svitlana moved from Belarus to Ukraine, where she earned a Master’s degree in Psychology and a teaching qualification in an Engineering Discipline from Kherson State University.
In 2009, she immigrated to the United States to further her education and expertise. Svitlana graduated from Antioch University in 2018 as a Marriage and Family Therapist, focusing on trauma within Clinical Psychology. Since 2017, she has been working towards licensure as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) in California.
Svitlana witnessed the onset of the war on February 24, 2022, in Odessa, Ukraine. Between February 24 and April 15, 2022, she volunteered in military hospitals in Odessa and Vinnytsia, assisting medical staff in caring for wounded soldiers.
Upon returning to the United States, Svitlana joined Angels of Ukraine, a nonprofit organization founded in 2022. This organization is dedicated to providing support to children, refugees, veterans, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and those affected by war.
From the beginning of the conflict, she participated in the “How Are You?” program, an All-Ukrainian mental health initiative launched by First Lady Olena Zelenska in May 2022. Svitlana volunteered as a psychotherapist, providing psychological support to Ukrainians in Ukraine.
To this day, Svitlana Veljanovski actively develops projects for Angels of Ukraine, which has been organizing events for Ukrainian refugee children in Los Angeles for the past two years and assisting children, the elderly, and animals in frontline areas of Ukraine.
Svitlana believes that caring for children, youth, and their families who have suffered from war and fled the conflict is a primary responsibility of the Ukrainian community in the United States. She has presented projects within Angels of Ukraine aimed at establishing centers for children and their families and addressing issues related to caring for the elderly in the Ukrainian community in Los Angeles County.
